My name is Yi Mao (“Yi” is pronounced the same as letter “e”) and I’m a visual & content communication designer working with print, digital and 3d media/medium.
As an individual with a background of art, photography, and film, it gives me an artistic and human-emotion-driven perspective as a graphic designer. I care deeply about people’s stories and am fascinated by how these stories can resonate with others. In between unfolding stories and creating resonance, designs are chains to make connections. Branding, packaging, and art direction are my current emphasis within this graphic design realm to help people tell their stories. When I’m not designing, I’m taking photos, especially beautiful windows and window shades. Those moments give me a feeling of warmth and the time for introspection. They remind myself as a lively human with senses and moods.

As a design practitioner, I believe in curiosity, authenticity, friendliness, and tolerance. My works are mostly influenced by the relationship among values, intentions, and meanings which fundamentally transforms into branding, typography, content communication, and experience design across multiple media/mediums.
