My name is Yi Mao (“Yi” is pronounced the same as letter “e”) and I’m a x(cross)-disciplinary graphic designer working with print, digital and 3d media/medium.
Growing up in an environment fulled with paper, brushes, pigaments, and toys, I was lucky to develop my interests in paintings, architecture, and creating my own “inventions”. I came from an undergraduate background of fine arts practice and visual arts training. Received a B.A. degree from UC San Diego in 2016. I’m currently a graduate graphic design student at ArtCenter College of Design (MGx).
No plagiarism & “digital promiscuity” / Comparing yourself to others, you will get lost. / As a designer, one shouldn’t limit herself/himself to one “style” and influence from one institution. / By saying “one should keep pushing his or her limits”, it doesn’t mean that one must push too hard and push too far. There is always a balance and limit. Live a life and get a healthy body.
